Retro City Rampage DX App Reviews

What is RCR? In short, it started out as a retro style demake of Grand Theft Auto, but got turned into its own game with a unique story involving time travel and its littered with tons of pop culture and videogame references. Its loaded with minigames and tons of stuff to unlock that you can use in the free roam made later on. The games soundtrack consists mostly of chiptune music. I originally played Retro City Rampage on my PC when it came out in 2012, and ended up buying it on PSVITA and 3DS and now I have RCR on my phone! The iOS port is very well done and I was a little unsure how this game would work with touchscreen controls. As an RCR veteran I got used to the controls pretty quickly, and this game also has MFI controller support too! Kudos to VBLANK for making this port and pulling it off very well!

Very good concept, but the gameplay is mindless and just not fun. Driving the cars is very difficult.

All I can say is amazing!! Every reference is pure nostalgia.

The reviews were good so I got it but I disliked it its very clunky feels like a $2 game not a $5 game... Plus the art style makes it really hard to distinguish things sometimes idk I didnt like this game at all

Good, good, good stuff! This is retro pixel gaming awesomeness. Its like having an 80s Grand Theft Auto. Shoot outs, robberies, car chases, and all that bad guy stuff. The presentation is very good. Graphics, sound, and control are excellent. Well worth the money. Good work Vblank Entertaianment!

Like gta? Like retro games? Then you will like this, even if you havent played the game on the pc.

I had this game previously on PSN (playstation network) snd honestly i got re al bored real fast, possibly because it felt detached and far away, like something was missing. Maybe all those years 2 feet from the nintendo conditioned me to want to feel the warm glow of pixelated games, whatever the reason it feels mo re at home on the ios that it did on psn, and the zoom feature really helps wether on iPhone or iPad, (air 2 so i zoom all the way out) deff worth the five if your into the generation of pixel gods.

Please add a mod workshop like the pc version of the game I want to be able to play as my custom character on the go

I have been on the fence for this game forever. I was originally turned off by the art style, but finally took the plunge and am glad I did. Theres quite a bit to do in the game (missions, part time work, challenges, screw around) its pretty much "retro GTA" in your pocket and Im having a blast with it. Sure, the graphics are supposed to be "retro" and I got used it it. The controls (like almost all touch screen games) and aiming are a little iffy but definitely not game breaking. Love the parody/references. If I had one (and only one request) would be to please allow cloud saves. My phone is my primary source for the game and would love to play it on iPad without losing my progress. Other than that, its pretty great.

Kind of looked fun but its all over the place . No fun for me.

I use my devices more for productivity than gaming, but I like to have a few choice selections available to kill time when necessary. This game is amazing, it truly recreates the vibe of when I was 12 playing those great old NES games! If you ever had a NES or Sega just buy this and thank me later. Another plus is that its a small game, doesnt eat up your storage!
